Watch Russian Man Dies After Being Attacked by a Shark Near Egypt's Red Sea Resort
The victim was swimming in the Red Sea close to a resort in the city of Hurghada on Thursday when the incident took place, according to The Guardian and Reuters. The victim was named by Russian news agency TASS as a Russian man born in 1999 who lived in Egypt full-time.
According to Reuters, Egypt’s Environment Ministry later said on Facebook that a tiger shark had been caught and was to blame for the attack.

According to the Associated Press, authorities shuttered a 46-mile stretch of shoreline as a result of the attack through Sunday. The Environment Ministry of Egypt stated that it would investigate the attack’s motive.
According to The Guardian, the Russian consulate in Hurghada advised travellers to use caution when near water and to abide by any swimming restrictions imposed by local authorities.

Although tiger shark attacks are uncommon in the Red Sea, there were two deadly ones there last year, according to The Guardian. Last July, two women from Austria and Romania perished in the same seas.

Specialists say the shark was caught and moved to a research center "for assessment and all necessary data to decide the potential reasons for the assault." Water exercises in the space were limited until Sunday
